A common complaint in the workshop
is a supposed defect where the lid
no longer fits on the shell.

But this is not a defect,
and the lid can be reattached
to the shell very easily.
No tools are required for this.

Here is the installation on model series 209.
The same applies for model series 203.

First, the parts must be set in
the correct position for assembly.
All four axles are extended and
both levers are pointing up.

The axles have been marked in white
to make them more visible.

Here at the front is the front axle.
Here is the left-hand lever, which is movable.
Behind is the rear axle.

It is exactly the same on the other side.
A lever that can be pressed down
and the axle marked in white.
At the front is the last front axle.

In order to install the lid,
the axles on one side must be retracted.

To do this, both levers,
the catch and one side button
are pressed.

First release both of the levers and only then
release the catch and the button at the side.

These two axles are now retracted and
should be visible during assembly in these
two holes at the front and rear.
This is the most difficult step.

During assembly it may be necessary to twist
the lid slightly or move it up and down ...

... so that the two axles can be introduced
into the holes.

The lid is inserted at the front first, and then
at the rear. Hold it with your right hand,
pressed against the bearing points,
in the direction of the open side.

Then push the left and right levers.
A loud clicking noise indicates
that the axles have extended.

The lid is now reinstalled
but it cannot be closed yet.
The other two axles are still extended,

as you can tell from the side button,
which is not depressed.

Swivel the lid gently from side to side.
Then press the right-hand lever first and
then the left-hand lever. Also press
the catch and the button at the side.

Now release both of the levers,
then release the catch and the button.

Now the lid can be closed again.

We will now show you how to remove
the latch if it is defective.
Required tools: rubber hammer.

The same procedure also applies
for model series 203.
First, open the lid.

Important: When removing and installing
the latch, all the axles must be extended
otherwise components in the lid
may be damaged.

Swivel the lid gently from side to side and
press the right-hand and left-hand levers.
A clicking noise can be heard.
All the axles are now extended.

You can tell this from the side button,
which is not depressed,
and the lid cannot be closed.

Now use the rubber hammer to firmly hit
the component so that it can be removed.

Insert the new latch in the guide
and knock it in with your hand.

The lid will not be able to be closed yet.

The axles are still extended;
the side button is not depressed.

Press the right-hand lever first and then
the left-hand lever. Also press the catch
and the button at the side.

Now release both of the levers,
then release the catch and the side button.

Now the lid can be closed again.
The latch has been installed, and now
the lock cylinder must be changed out too.
